Viasat offers service speeds up to 150 Mbps in select areas and has several speed and service options available, depending on where you live. The right plan for you is based on your anticipated monthly usage.
Viasat’s internet plans are location-based and are available in many areas. On a Viasat service plan, there’s no limit to the amount of Standard Data you can use during your monthly measurement period. Unlimited Standard Data means you will never run out of data. Also included in your Viasat internet plan is a set amount of High-Speed Data.
If you are experiencing extremely slow speeds, you may want to consider buying more High-Speed Data at any time during the month, but remember your High-Speed Data resets on the first day of each new billing cycle. The ability to purchase additional High-Speed Data is not available on the following plans: Unlimited Bronze 12 (35 GB), Unlimited Silver 12 (45 GB) and Unlimited Gold 12 (65 GB).
If you’re still not sure which plan is best for you, feel free to contact sales for help choosing one.
Not all video sources are identifiable and available to benefit from the Data Extender. Speeds and streaming video quality are “up to,” will vary and are not guaranteed.
The price lock guarantee applies only to the standard monthly internet service fee and the monthly equipment lease fee (in each case, before any promotional discounts) and excludes any surcharges. Service is not available in all areas. Offer may be changed or withdrawn at any time.
Founded in 1982, Network Communications has been a leader in the satellite communication industry, providing reliable and affordable services to customers in our local service area. Our team has decades of experience in the field, ensuring that our customers receive top-quality service.
More and more customers want to "cut the cord" by eliminating their video service and replace it with one or more streaming services. Video streaming uses a lot of data causing customers with lower data plans to reach their data caps quickly.
Viasat offers different data plans and tools to track a customer's data usage. Viasat also offers deep discounts the first three months of new service. That said, we suggest our new cord cutting customer sign up for the Viasat Choice 40 or 50 service. Those plans costs $149.99 and $199.99 per month. But the discount for first 3 months is $50.00 making the first 3 months service $99.99 and $149.99.
Stream your TV programming while using the Viasat usage tool. You will then be able to see how much data you and your family actually use. You will have actual usage numbers and if you aren't using all of your data, you can drop your level down to a lesser plan costing less.
This is a great way to see what plan fits your family and data use.

Viasat statement regarding video streaming
To find the plan that’s best for you, you’ll want to consider your screen size, screen type, how much and what kind of data you plan to stream.
In general, satellite internet is not an ideal solution for people who want to replace their cable TV with full-time video streaming. However, Viasat Internet does work for families who want to stream video – you just need to find the right plan for your needs.
Here’s some information to help you understand what’s involved.
Understanding resolution:
Viasat Unlimited internet plans deliver different levels of streaming video quality (expressed as resolution). There are many factors involved in determining video resolution, including the playback settings you configure on each video streaming service.
The sharpness of your image depends on both the resolution and the size of your display screen. Put simply: small screens look fine with lower resolution, and larger screens require a higher resolution to look good. Also: the higher the video resolution, the more data you need. The lower the resolution, the less data you need.
Screen resolution is expressed as the number of pixels your screen can display horizontally and -vertically. For example, 1920 x 1080 pixels, or 1080p, is known as full high definition (HD).
With your Unlimited data plan, video streams defaults to at DVD quality (typically 480p) so you will use less data. Want better video quality? No problem! Simply opt out of this benefit by logging on to My Viasat and turn off your Data Extender so you can stream video at a higher resolution, up to 4K on select plans. But be careful! When you turn off your Data Extender, you could use more data each month.
• Low resolution (360p) is best for small devices such as smart phones and tablets.
• DVD quality (480p) is best for medium devices such as computer monitors, laptop monitors and TV's.
• HD quality (720p) is best for large devices such as large screen TV's or projectors.
• Full HD quality (1080p) is best for large devices such as large screen TV's or projectors.
• Ultra HD (4K) is the highest cinematic standard for video resolution, designed for wide screens and digitally produced content.
VIDEO RESOLUTION DESCRIPTION
360p Low-resolution, best viewed on small screens such as phones or tablets
480p DVD-quality, best viewed on phones, tablets, laptops, and small-screen TVs
720p HD-quality, looks good on most screen sizes
1080p Full HD video, looks good on even the largest screen sizes (including projectors)
4K Ultra HD video, is the highest cinematic standard for video resolution, designed for wide screens in theaters and digitally produced content.
Understanding Data
Common data measurements are Gigabytes (GB), Megabytes (MB), and Kilobytes (KB). 1 GB is roughly one billion bytes, or about one thousand Megabytes (MB).
1 GB 1,024 MB of data
1 MB 1,024 KB of data
1 KB 1,024 bytes of data
With 1 GB of data, you should be able to visit 3,000 new webpages, send approximately 20,000 text-only emails, listen to about 24 hours of music streaming on services like Spotify (at 96 kbps).
Data usage explained
Viasat Unlimited data internet plans come with Unlimited Standard Data and a set monthly amount of High-Speed data.
• Unlimited data plans include a set monthly amount of High-Speed Data when you should experience downloads and uploads up to the advertised speed for your plan.
• Unlimited Standard Data kicks in after you’ve used up your monthly High-Speed Data. Unlimited Standard Data is prioritized behind other customers during times of network congestion resulting in slower speeds but should allow you to do essential, everyday activities such as web browsing, audio streaming, social media and email
Your monthly data usage is measured by the number of bytes transferred, or used, between your network and the Internet.
Your monthly data measurement reset date is the same as your monthly billing statement date. On that day, your data usage is reset to 0 and a new measurement period begins.
If you are experiencing extremely slow speeds, you can always buy more High-Speed Data any time during the month, but remember that your High-Speed Data resets on the first day of each new billing cycle.
We offer a variety of resources to help you manage your data usage for the best value and experience. These include Viasat Shield, My Viasat mobile app, and My Viasat web.
